Folklife

We spent Memorial Day at Seattle's Folklife Festival. It was super crowded, but we had fun listening to live music, eating and peoplewatching. It was another gorgeous Seattle day, so we played in the International Fountain a bit, too!

Ronan's trip to Indianola

What a fun Memorial Day weekend Ronan had! We took the ferry from Seattle to Bainbridge Island, then drove to Grandpa John & Grandma Yvette's house in Indianola. It was a BEAUTIFUL day and we headed straight down to the beach.

Ronan got to feel sand for the first time! I think he enjoyed it - he didn't cry about it, anyway.

Next it was into the water! Cold, cold Puget Sound! He didn't mind this either - it was like the biggest bathtub he'd ever seen! I can't wait until we can really go wading.

Then we turned over some rocks to find some crabs! (Super tiny ones!)

Ronan got to feel the rough texture of the dock pilings:
Obie, Fozzie the dog, Grandpa John and Grandma Yvette all came to the beach too!

Ronan had a ton of fun at the beach. We can't wait until we can explore tide pools, wade to the float, go fishing and jump off the dock. Indianola is the perfect place for kids in the summertime.

Heading home from the beach:

At Indianola, when you get home from the beach, you get hosed off before you go inside. It's the part that every kid dreads, because hose water is COLD! I was excited to initiate Ronan with this Lane Family rite of passage. (Am I a mean Mommy??)

After dinner, Great Grandma Billie came over to visit (and have some dessert!). She enjoyed playing with Ronan.

All in all, we had a FANTASTIC day in Indianola. (Asleep on the ferry.... zzzzzzzzzzzzzz!)

Ronan - 6 Months!

Can you believe it? Ronan is 6 months old! When we reflect on how our lives have all changed in the last 6 months, we can't imagine life without him.

We visited the nurse practitioner today, and Ronan stands 25.75" tall and weighs 13lb 2oz! Still small, but growing proportionately. She suggested we start introducing solid foods, and wants to weigh him again in a month to make sure he's still gaining.

He's sleeping well, and sleeps best in his crib. He still wakes up once or twice during the night, but we're hoping that adding some food into his diet will help him stay full and sleep though!

Our days are filled with more and more fun! We've been taking more walks, reading more books (he loves Doggies by Sandra Boynton), and jumping in his jumperoo! He is becoming more and more proficient at grabbing toys and blankets, and of course everything goes right into his mouth. We thought he'd started teething a month or so ago, but no teeth yet. He gnaws on anything he can find - our fingers are one of his favorites.

Ronan now rolls like crazy, and almost prefers to spend time on his tummy. I know he's going to be crawling before we know it... but I'm not encouraging it at all!!!

Ronan recently took his first plane trip to meet his cousins in Virginia. He did so well on the plane and loved meeting Zach and Connor. He liked watching how active they are and having some buddies to play with. :) I made a separate blog entry with some pictures from that trip.

Ronan and Mommy are starting a Kindermusik Sign & Sing class soon, where we'll learn some basic sign language and songs to sing together! We plan to learn some helpful signs and use them with Ronan so he can learn to communicate with us before he can talk.

These last 6 months have flown by, and we know the next 6 will, as well. Enjoy some pictures of a Ronan from today!

More Videos

Our Flip Mino died during our trip to Virginia, but Ricky revived it... and the videos were still there! Here are some more videos of Ronan and his cousins!

This is when Zach came home from school and met Baby Ronan for the first time!

Ronan taught Connor and Zach how to do the "Pants off Dance off"!

And here is one of Zach playing with Ronan.

More jumping!

Ronan's trip to Virginia

Ronan just took his very first plane ride to meet his cousins in Virginia! He did very well on the plane (he even made some friends!) and adjusted well for being out of his routine.

Getting on the airplane!

Asleep on the plane...

Awake on the plane!

The hottest (and most humid) weather Ronan's ever been in! It was 89 on this day.
